What's New

The upcoming release, Figma plugin v63 with Studio plugin 3.0.0, is the biggest update since FigBloxUI launched. This page is the short tour; the changelog has every line.

Before you send

Three things once, after updating:

  1. Close and reopen the Figma plugin so it picks up v63, then click Logout and Login with Roblox. Your license and uploaded images stay exactly as they are.
  2. Choose an Image owner (Personal or one of your Roblox Groups) before your first Code or Live Send with images. The plugin remembers it.
  3. Update the Studio plugin to 3.0.0 (turn on Auto Update under Plugins, Manage Plugins). Live needs it; Code and ZIP keep working on older versions.

New features

Preserve layers

A new Artwork layers setting in Settings. Automatic stays the default and keeps making the fastest, most faithful import of ordinary UI. Choose Preserve layers when you want to edit or animate artwork in Studio: more Figma layers and containers stay separate with their names and stacking order. Supported layers stay editable, while unsupported looks and some combined decoration arrive as images. Masks that are circular or evenly rounded stay editable clips, blended groups and decorative groups with a blur (a soft glow) arrive as one image that matches Figma, and Structure points out anything worth a look before you send. See Settings compared for when to use which.

Separate

A third Artwork layers choice, between Automatic and Preserve layers. Your panels, cards and lists stay editable with your Figma names, each independent piece of artwork gets its own image, and decoration that only looks right together, such as a glow with its mask, arrives as one image. See Settings compared.

Choose who owns your images

Under Image owner in Code and Live, pick Personal or one of your Roblox Groups. Images sent to a Group belong to that Group, so team projects keep their assets when members change. Manage adds more Groups. Details on How to Use.

Up to 1,000 images per Send

Twice as many as before, and copies of the same image count once. If a design is over the limit, the plugin tells you before it starts. Large Sends upload faster, long uploads finish reliably, and the plugin waits for Roblox’s moderation result and says when an image is still under review.

Structure tab, rebuilt

Structure now updates as soon as you change a layer’s class, expands like the Roblox Explorer, names the reason behind every image and every check, and offers Fix for a scroll area that extends past its panel (with Reset to undo). A Send also warns when one layer would arrive twice under the same parent. Read Structure tab.

Report a bug from the plugin

Report bug in the Structure tab sends the section’s layer structure with your notes and screenshots straight to the FigBloxUI team, and gives you a code to quote on Discord. Nothing is posted publicly. To add the activity log to a bug report, hover over the log and click Copy log. See Feedback.

Blend colors that match Figma

Artwork that uses blend modes such as Overlay or Multiply is now drawn over what is behind it in every artwork mode, so its colors match Figma, even over see-through backgrounds. There is nothing to turn on. The blended piece matches the background it has in Figma, so if you later recolor or hide that background in Studio, it does not blend with the new one. Blended shapes, bars and thin dividers match in Automatic too, and blended text stays editable. Supported text colors match over one solid color; unsupported gradient/blend combinations keep their original colors with a Structure warning. Structure tells you when a blend cannot include what is behind it, and how to fix it. Artwork layers lists the few cases that need a tip.

Keep Both, again and again

Choosing Keep Both for a design you already imported now adds another copy each time (Shop_copy, then Shop_copy2), and each copy keeps the Offset or Scaled mode it was exported with. Hovering an image in the Studio plugin’s image list outlines where it is used.

Improvements

More accurate imports

  • Layers with several fills or several borders stay editable in Studio, and a texture over a gradient keeps the gradient editable.
  • Panels with blended fills keep their cards, borders and corners editable; only the part that needs the blend becomes an image.
  • Circular icon backgrounds, shapes with individual corner radii and smoothed corners keep their round outlines.
  • Drop shadows follow the shape of what casts them, as in Figma: a glow on a group or frame around an icon, a ring or text arrives as a soft shadow image behind the layers, which stay editable, and it stays outside clips and layouts.
  • Hard drop shadows on text arrive as a matching shadow copy behind the text.
  • Text that mixes fonts imports with each font in place, keeping uppercase, title case and text size.
  • Text stays editable in almost every case, including emoji, slanted text, masks, effects and _gray, and Structure lists anything Roblox draws a little differently. Text becomes an image only when you name the text layer with _image, _ImageLabel or _ImageButton, or use it in a boolean shape or as a mask.
  • Boolean shapes keep their cutouts and combined look, and slanted shapes keep their slant.
  • Rows of six or more identical decorative items import each piece once, in its place, and artwork groups with a hidden layer still import with their image.

Scrolling and grids

  • Scroll areas with same-size cards placed by hand in an even grid import as a real grid, so cards you add in Studio scroll too.
  • Scrolling grids leave room for card borders, grids of masked cards sit flush, and a grid that already fits no longer scrolls.
  • Scroll areas named with _ScrollingFrame or _scroll and clipped by a rounded or circular mask keep their rounded edge in every artwork mode, and everything inside stays editable and scrolls. See ScrollingFrame tips.
  • With Studio plugin 3.0.0, button grids in Offset mode keep all their Figma columns.

Images panel

  • Fills in while a Send or export runs, then shows exactly which images were sent.
  • Sending again while the plugin is open reuses images that did not change, so repeat Sends are faster.
  • Previews load faster on large designs and stay in place when you switch between Live, Code and ZIP. A taller window gives the extra height to the images panel.

Plugin window

  • FigBloxUI rests while its window is in the background and refreshes the preview when you come back.
  • The Settings title and close button stay in view while you scroll the settings.

Account and sign-in

  • Export messages say what happened and what to click next, and Studio connection help points to the right setting.
  • With FigBloxUI open in several Figma files, a new login or Manage in one window carries over to the others when it is the same Roblox account, so they keep sending.

Safer exports

Exports tidy up their temporary layers, even if the plugin closes mid-export, and leave your design’s clipping and visibility exactly as they were. If you edit a temporary copy while an image is rendering, the plugin keeps it and lists it with Show layer and Check again. Remove copy… removes a leftover copy for you, and you can Undo in Figma.

Good to know

  • Images uploaded to a Group only show in experiences that Group owns; in another experience, Studio asks you to share access once.
  • If you switch Artwork layers and images look wrong, close and reopen the plugin, then send again.
  • Let a Send finish before you edit the design; an edit made during your own Send can be lost.
